Authorities Reopened Investigation Into The Death Of Natalie Wood Drowned In 1981

The Sheriff's Office County of Los Angeles is reopening its investigation into the death of film star Natalie Wood, who died in 1981 while sailing off the coast of Catalina Island off the coast of California, said authorities.

Homicide investigators are taking a new look at one of the most enduring mysteries in Hollywood, after being contacted, who claimed to be "more information" about the drowning, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The authorities have not provided details Thursday night and told a press conference on the subject will be Friday at 11 am (2 am ET).

Last year, the sister of the actress', Lana Wood, and the captain of a boat that sailed the wooden husband, actor Robert Wagner had asked the sheriff's office to reopen the case.

Thursday 'in Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Benjamin Grubb could not tell if the captain's sister yacht was a renewed search.

"I do not know if it's related, but that's what the press conference tomorrow," Grubb said CNN.

Natalie Wood said in a television interview that his greatest fear was of dark seawater. On November 29, 1981, she drowned in the Pacific off the coast of the Isthmus of Catalina Island.

Wooden body was found floating in the water about a mile away from the boat.

According to police reports, Wood was found wearing a long nightgown, stockings, and feather duster.

The autopsy shows Mr. Wood had two dozen bruises on his body, rubbing her left cheek as the face, and bruises on his knees.

"My sister was a swimmer and could not swim, and he would never go to another boat or on the beach wearing a nightgown and socks," said Lana Wood.

Although the county coroner's office determined that Wood's death was an accident, others say the case is meaningless.

In 2010, Lana Wood told CNN she believes an argument very busy between his sister and her husband on the back deck of the boat in front of drowning Wood. She told CNN last year, she does not suspect a crime.

"I just want the truth out, the real story," he said last year.

Dennis Davern, former captain of the yacht Splendor broke his long silence with a detailed account of "Goodbye Natalie, Gloria Goodbye," a book he wrote with his friend Marti Rulli. It was published in September 2009.

Davern said he believes Wood's death was the direct result of the struggle against Wagner.

Lana Wood, and Davern could not be reached immediately comment Thursday.

Wagner's spokesman Alan Nierob, issued a statement saying the family of the actor "fully support the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department and the confidence to assess whether the new information in the death of Natalie Wood Wagner is valid, and that will be a source or other credible sources that simply seek to benefit from the 30 years anniversary of his death. "

Nierob Sheriff Department said no one has contacted Wagner or his family anyway.

In a long interview with CNN in 2010, Davern said he now believes that the investigation into the death of Wood was incompetent and suggested that there was a cover-up. He said he regretted misleading investigators by keeping silent, at the request of Wagner.

Wood and Wagner were married in 1957, divorced in 1962 and remarried in 1972. They often sailed their yacht off the coast of California, and invited Wood "Brainstorm" co-star, Christopher Walken, to join them in a candle on the weekend of Thanksgiving in 1981.

Walken and Wood had been taken over time, "Brainstorm", and the ferment voice Hollywood mill with speculation that Wagner was jealous of Walken, but authorities said Walken witnesses only the events that lead to the argument between the couple.

Walken could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday.

Wagner admitted that his zeal in his book "Pieces of My Heart", also published in September 2009. He acknowledged that there had been a fight with wood, wrote that he broke a bottle of wine on a table.

After Wagner argued with Walken and broke a bottle of wine, wood left in disgust and went to his cabin, Davern told CNN last year. Walken also removed to a guest room, Davern added, and Wagner has followed his wife in their bedroom. A few minutes later, Davern said he could hear the couple fighting.

Embarrassed, Davern said turned the volume on his stereo. At some point, Davern recalled, looked out the window, pilot house and saw the tree as well as Wagner, and the aft deck of the boat. "They were assigned to fight off ... you could say their animated gestures were still arguing that," he said.

A little 'later, Wagner, who appears out of sorts, Davern said he did not find any wood. Davern searched the boat, but could not find it. He also noted that the boat was missing.

Wagner shrugged and poured two glasses, Davern said. He suggested that his wife was probably a party atmosphere.

History of Wagner, as told in his book differs from Davern. He argues that after the argument with Walken, Wood went to his room and prepared for bed while he and Walken was sitting on the deck cool.

Wagner writes that he went to check the wood, but he was not there. He claims that he and Davern searched the boat and I noticed the boat was missing. Wagner wrote that he assumed his wife had gone to their countries.

He radio the beach restaurant, where they had dinner and called the Coast Guard if anyone had seen Wood.

The boat was found about a mile from the boat, and a mile from where the body of the timber was found.

Wood first starring role was as a child "Miracle on 34th Street" in 1947, and played alongside some of Hollywood's leading men -. "Splendor in the Grass" James "Rebel" Dean and Warren Beatty in E 'was nominated for an Oscar in both films, and "Love With the Proper Stranger" (1963), according to IMDB. One of his most memorable roles was Maria "from West Side Story."

Wagner is striking look good earned him roles in dozens of films in the 1950s and 60s, before he hit the jackpot on TV. He starred in two popular series, "It Takes a Thief" (1968-1970) and "Hart to Hart" (1979-84) and later as number two parodies "Austin Powers" spy.
